More About Me

After graduating from University College Dublin with a BA degree in History and Philosophy, I got accepted to the Conservation of Books and Library Materials programme at West Dean College. This allowed me to pursue my lifelong interest in books which developed from a love for stories to a fascination with books as material objects and transmitters of information through time. Working with my hands has always been important to me, and I am privileged to be able to do this professionally, combined with the intellectual challenges of working with complex materials. My interest in history comes with a general appreciation for anything old, and I very much enjoy exploring the ethical issues that are involved in conservation.

Due to the Covid lockdown, I am taking a year long break from my studies at West Dean. I am using this  time to do research on my MA thesis, learn more about book structures and conservation techniques, and experiment with  bookbinding in a makeshift workshop at home. I am also trying to organise internships to keep my technical skills up to standards.
